The History of the Runic Alphabets with Hyldyr

Saturday, June 21, 3:30pm

Join linguists Joseph S. Hopkins and Lauren Fountain of Olympia, WA-based publishing house HYLDYR for a historically-focused dive into the runic alphabets. The two will chart the initial development of the runes around 2,000 years ago and the alphabet's subsequent changes in Anglo-Saxon England and Viking Age Scandinavia. Hopkins and Fountain will also discuss the continued use of runes in Scandinavian grimoires and provide research recommendations for budding and seasoned runologists alike who wish to dig further. This is an excellent and approachable way to dive into an incredibly fascinating topic! (free)

Rune Meet-Up

Third Thursdays at 6:30 (Free)

Join me, Annie, and learn about Runes every third Thursday! And guess what?!?! It’s Free!! It lasts for 1.5 hours and it’s so much fun. It’s meant for everyone from beginners to the expert. The first 45 minutes is me talking about the Rune, giving it context and further reading suggestion, sharing what other Runsters have written and some of my own observations and correspondences. (If you are more advanced I ask for your patience during this portion because it might be information you already know.) The second half is for open discussion by all participants and is the part that more advanced practitioners will find interesting. I truly believe in UPG (Unverified Personal Gnosis) and have learned more about Runes facilitating the Meet-Up than I have from most books.
