Consignment Policies
Rates
Consignment rate for all new consignors is 40%, meaning consignors keep 60% of their sales and Necessary Magic keeps 40%.
Criteria
We accept new consignment artists when the following criteria are met:
1. We have retail space available to accommodate new consignment artists.
2. The consignment artist is local to the region.
3. Consigned art fits with the store aesthetics and mission (e.g., Pagan, magical, authentic, original, hand-made, earth-friendly, etc.)
4. The artist does not consign with any other businesses in Astoria. (We do not want to compete with other stores, and we want to give new artists an opportunity to build their business.)
5. The artist offers unique products not already in our inventory. (We already have a lot of candles and jewelry!)
6. The artist has the appropriate liability insurance that is standard for their craft or industry.
Delivery
Consigning with any business takes a lot of work and attention to detail on both ends! Due to the large number of consigners we work with, we ask that consigners be responsible for preparing their items for consignment including providing accurate inventory sheets and pricing their own items. Please do not bring items to the store without first scheduling an appointment. (See form below.) Please do not come to the store before we confirm your appointment. Managing two dozen consignment accounts while producing products is an intense endeavor, so please give us about a week to respond. We are open from 11-6 every day.
Additional Terms
If we move forward with your consignment request, we will ask you to sign a Consignment Agreement that specifies additional policies and terms and conditions.
Appointment Request Form
Consignment and wholesale delivery is by appointment only. Please use the form below to request an appointment, which will ensure we have the time and bandwidth to process your delivery. We will have most availability during weekdays and before noon and after 4pm. We are open from 11-6 every day.
